A gigantic, beautiful plate of orthoceras specimens. These creatures lived about 400 million years ago and they're related to today's squid. This piece has approximately 29 orthoceras fossils. Definitely a unique, classic addition to anyone's home, office, or collection. The name orthoceras means straight horn. Their tubes had two functions: buoyancy and motion. This nautiloid could fill itself with water and then force the water out, propelling itself backwards with jet propulsion. This spectacular plate weighs approximately 31 lbs and is about 21" x 18".
